Divinity: Original Sin 2 builds are key to a succesful adventure, and thankfully the game's character system is one of the most versatile out there. It allows for a huge amount of creativity. Classes are templates for players in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.When starting the game, the player will create two individual characters, one male and one female, who will be the main heroes of the game. It's the sequel to our 2014 PC Game of the Year, Divinity: Original Sin, and it netted over $2 million from 40,000 fans on Kickstarter. It features over 1,200 characters, all of them fully voice.
Divinity Original Sin 2 allows you to choose from 14 predefined classes and 14 different groups of abilities that can be used during fights. This in turn allows you to create dozens of team combinations that can, with better or worse results, be effective during fights (and outside of them). In this chapter of our guide you can learn about a few useful team combinations that can help you in completing the game.
A classic team
This is a classic team that works for most RPGs - a resistant warrior that focuses enemies' attention, an archer that fights from a safe distance and two mages that have access to various spells.

Because of that you should invest a lot of points in Huntsman and Ranged abilities and add a few points (or finding a gear) to Scoundrel. This character can deal with physical armor (by using abilities and regular attacks) as well as magic armor (by using arrows). Has two teleportation abilities and one that allows them to receive 2 additional AP if there is a situation that requires you to finish someone off or escape. The best race for this class: - Dwarf - has a talent that increases vitality and dodges - Elf - Flesh Sacrifice ability gives them additional AP and increases their damage. |
Enchanter | Hydrosophist, Aerotheurge, Necromancer | Rain, Healing Ritual, Restoration, Ice Fan, Winter Blast, Armour of Frost, Global Cooling, Electrical Discharge, Dazing Bolt, Tornado, Teleport, Pressure Spike, Chain Lightning, Raise Bone Widow, Mosquito Swarm | Function: dealing magic damage and support One of the two mages in the team that focuses mainly on Air and Water elements. Their main purpose is to break enemy magic armor (Aerotheurge abilities), inflicting various status effects (Frozen, Stunned) and supporting the team with spells that heal and increase magic armor. Abilities from Necromancer school allow them to deal physical damage, inflict numerous status effects and support teammates in critical situations. Here, the most important spell is Rise Bone Widow that allows you to summon a spider - a few points in Summoning abilities (that can be easily obtained through items) makes this spider more powerful than most of the enemies in the game. Wizard | Geomancer, Pyrokinetic, Summoning | Fireball, Haste, Fire Whip, Laser Ray, Peace of Mind, Epidemic of Fire, Poison Dart, Poison Wave, Acid Spores, Earthquake, Impalement, Fortify, Fossil Strike, Conjure Incarnate, Elemental Totem, Dominate Mind | Function: dealing magic damage and summoning creatures The second mage, however, this one focuses on Fire, Earth and Poison. Abilities from Pyrokinetic school allow them to deal a lot of Fire damage and support their allies. Geomancer gives access to abilities that inflict status effects (such as Slowed or Crippled) and those, that can regenerate physical armor of their allies. Dominate Mind ability is worth being mentioned - it allows you to control any enemy (when they don't have magic armor) or you can use it to remove this status from a friendly unit that is under enemy's control. The best races for this class: - Lizard - has a talent that increases Poison and Fire resistance and also has Dragon's Blaze ability. |
A few tips for this team lineup:
- You should invest in Stench talent because it lowers a chance that a character can be attacked by enemies. Get this talent for all characters expect for the Fighter - thanks to that all enemies will focus their attention on that character.
- When it comes to Enchanter and Wizard, you should invest a few points in Summoning and Necromancer. Then, you can unlock Raise Bone Widow spell. It allows you to summon a powerful spider that can deal with a few enemies at the same time before it's defeated - it's especially powerful when a caster has a well-developed Summoning school.
- Your Fighter needs a lot of magic and physical armor points (recommended in proportions 40:60). When it comes to the rest of the team, you should focus more on magic armor because they will be more often attacked by spells rather than physical attacks.
- Equip your Fighter with grenades so they can be thrown at enemies that can't be reached by your Fighter. Your Ranger should be equipped with arrows that allow them to inflict various status effects on enemies. Items from these two groups are easy to craft, you can also buy or steal them.
- A Ranger can be replaced with an assassin (Rogue or Shadowblade), however, this requires a completely different play style (attacking enemies from behind).
A hybrid team
This team combines various ability schools that may, at a first glance, seem to be not that compatible - an assassin that can heal allies and deal magic damage or a ranger that casts spells based on Earth element.

A few tips for this team lineup:
- You should invest in Stench talent because it lowers a chance that a character can be attacked by enemies. This talent should be unlocked on Rogue and Wayfarer characters - thanks to that the assassin will have an easier time in attacking enemies from behind while an archer won't need to change their position.
- Use your Rogue to eliminate targets that are at the back of enemy forces - mages and archers. Thanks to Rogue's damage, you will be able to render them unable to fight for one turn.
- Your Battlemage needs a lot of magic and physical armor points (recommended in proportions 40:60) which can help them to survive enemies' attacks.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is one of the best co-op RPGs to come out in recent years, allowing up to 4 players to play together any way they want. However, if you prefer flying solo, you can do that too, because the game offers a Lone Wolf talent for you to use with your character!
The Lone Wolf talent doesn't restrict you to just one character in your party, and you'll be able to have at most one other companion with you. But bear in mind that a party of two will need to employ a very different set of tactics than a party of four will.

Best Race for a Lone Wolf Build
If you want to go it alone, your best race options are Human and Elf. And I'd personally recommend creating a custom character, since Dome of Protection is an excellent skill to have.
Humans get +2 Initiative -- and though Lone Wolf forces you to run with a smaller party, their Encourage skill does affect summons.
Elves, on the other hand, get Cannibalize and Flesh Sacrifice. Cannibalize isn't especially helpful for Lone Wolves, but Flesh Sacrifice is a great racial skill that will net you more AP to work with in combat. You may not get much benefit from the damage boost, though.
If you've read our Divinity 2 character creation guide, you know that Elves can also acquire a few skills for free without having to use any skill points -- so if you want to get an edge in the early game that will help you wander the lonesome road, Elf will probably be the way to go.
Best Attributes for a Lone Wolf Build
To start off with your loner character, you're going to want 14 Constitution and 12 Wits. These will be your most important attributes for the rest of the game.
Constitution is obviously important for not dying, but Wits provides Initiative -- a vital stat for Tactician mode. As the initial combat round will shape the flow of the fight, you'll want to go first whenever possible. 12 Constitution should be enough to start out with if you want to throw a few points elsewhere, but you'll want to bump it up to 14 pretty early on.
The rest of your attribute points should be spent as you need them either to fulfill stat requirements or to support any other skills you decide to pick up. Note that your summons do not scale with Intelligence -- they only care about their summoner's level and Summoning skill.
Best Abilities for a Lone Wolf Build
As you probably already know, the classes don't really mean anything -- so there's no 'best class' for the Lone Wolf player if you customize your abilities, skills, and talents out of the class presets. You could pick any class you wanted, then change it all to fit this build.
With that in mind, the best ability for a Lone Wolf to focus on is Summoning. You want to get 10 points into Summoning as soon as possible -- which is incredibly easy, since every point you invest into a Combat Ability is doubled by the Lone Wolf talent.
Not only will most of your skills scale directly off of your Summoning ability, butyour Conjure Incarnate skill will also call forth a menacing Colossal Incarnate at Summoning 10 -- and it's superior in every way to the old one.
Realistically, you'll want your Summoning ability to be as high as possible, but you're also going to need to branch out a bit. You'll absolutely want 2 points in Necromancy, in order to learn the Raise Bone Widow skill -- it's a very powerful summon that scales with your Summoning ability, despite being a Necromancy skill.
Divinity 2 Best Classes For Companions
You'll also want to pick up at least one Tier 2 Infusion skill, which will require 2 points in their respective elemental ability.
You can also invest some points into the Leadership skill, as the aura also benefits your summoned creatures.
The Civil Abilities you choose to focus on is pretty much up to you, but Lucky Charm is always a good choice.
Best Skills for a Lone Wolf Build
Since you'll be starting the game with only the Summoning ability, your starting skill choices are very easy: Conjure Incarnate, Elemental Totem, and Farsight Infusion.
After that, you'll obviously want to keep focusing on Summoning skills, and you'll want to focus on crowd control and support, as your summons represent the bulk of your damage. Aerotheurge and Hydrosophist are great for both.
Best Talents for a Lone Wolf Build
Obviously, your starting talent is going to be Lone Wolf -- and to be honest, you don't really need any other talents besides that one because Summoners aren't particularly talent-hungry.
The only other necessary talent you'll take will be All Skilled Up at level 3, as it'll get you that much closer to having 10 points in Summoning.
After that, it's pretty much up to you and what skills you branch out into.
Best Companions for a Lone Wolf Build
Regardless of who your companion is, they want to get the Lone Wolf talent as soon as possible. If it's another player, they can take it when they create their character. Otherwise, your companion will have to wait until level 3.
As for the rest of your companion's build, they're probably best off just mirroring you as a Summoner and investing points into whatever optional Combat and Civil Abilities you don't have.
Best Divinity 2 Class Requirements
If you (or the other player) decides to take the character in another direction, they might want to focus on crowd control, tanking, and support, with a few points in Leadership.
